S U P E R G R A P H 2014

Along with every other Graphic Designer in Melbourne, I attended the first ever Supergraph this weekend at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton. I love Melbourne! Always something creative to see and do. I was really excited to see what the day would be all about and the types of people that it would attract. On first impressions there was not a great vibe in the hall. The absence of music made for a pretty stark atmosphere, particularly around the bar section where I felt I had to whisper to order a cider like I was in a library....

#MELBOURNENOW 2014

I love Melbourne, and the latest exhibition Melbourne Now reinforces all the reasons I love this city. An exhibition that celebrates Melbourne’s past, present and future. I attended both sites of the exhibition and started at the NGV on St Kilda Rd. You know, the one with the water on the windows.? My favourite. I had initially gone to see the Art Deco clothing exhibit but when I walked in the gallery doors I was coaxed by the public iPads and table tennis table at the entry to Melbourne Now. I had to investigate further! I was lead through...

@AdobeCreativeSuiteRoadshow– #hashtagging the way to success

On Tuesday I ventured from the studio to attend the Adobe CreativeSuite Roadshow– a conference held to introduce creative professionals, students and other keen people to the newly released CS6. Not only was it a valid reason to get out of the office and to take my work-experience sister on an ‘exciting outing’, but it also provided me with a kickstart into the world of CS6– and can I tell you, what an awesome world it is! What made the conference even more engaging and exciting was the emphasis on social media. Being a bit of a social networking...

agIdeas International Design Forum 2012

The dreaded ‘I’ word is burning a hole in the roof of my mouth as I reminisce about agIdeas– a three day design conference held annually in Melbourne. Overused like mad, the word ‘inspiring’ has lost, for me, any kind of significance. However the profound nature and impassioned talent of the 40 speakers who presented at the conference embodies the very essence of what it is to be inspiring. Representing all aspects of the design field (from Industrial design, to landscape architecture, from fashion design to illustration) from all over the world (Russia, India, Taiwan, South Africa, Italy, Canada,...

That branding seminar

For the last two years, Bayside City Council run Bayside Business Network have allowed me the great honour of putting on a business seminar for the people of the network. Last year 2010 was vey successful and as an added bonus I was able to gain a handful of clients that have been with me ever since. The seminar is something I really enjoy putting together. I take honest examples of good branding and bad branding and then dissect them in front of a live audience. I love appreciating good design having a giggle at really really bad choices...

Victoria Small Business Festival

I am really excited to be part of the Victorian Small business festival this year. It is such a great opportunity for any small business to go along to information sessions around Business Planning, Marketing, Accounting and Bookkeeping, Social Media and much more. This year No Grey Creative is part of the Business Planning section of the festival. When deciding what category to submit under, Marketing was the first choice. But after having a good ponder I decided to go with Business Planning. I see so many business owners who start out, leave branding to the last minute or...
